Most "drywall repairs" fail at the last ten percent
Cutting a square and screwing in a patch is the easy part. What separates a repair you can see from one you cannot is the width of the float, the texture match, and whether anyone bothered to prime before the paint went on.
It is also why so many valley homeowners have the same crack filled three times. A seam crack is a taping failure — filler on top of failed tape bridges nothing, and it will reopen the next dry season.
- Cut, tape, float wide
- Failed tape comes out. Joints are re-taped and floated eight to twelve inches either side so no single line carries the stress.
- Texture matched on site
- Sprayed or hand-troweled to match what is already there — with a sample panel first on anything unusual.
- Primed before we leave
- New compound drinks paint differently from an old wall. Priming is what makes the sheen match, and it is standard, not an extra.
- Told straight when it is not drywall
- If your crack is a foundation problem or your wall is plaster, you will hear that rather than get sold a patch that is guaranteed to fail.

Common questions
How much does drywall repair cost?
It depends far more on access, height and texture than on the size of the hole. A single small patch at standard ceiling height is the least expensive job we do; the same patch on a two-storey entry wall costs several times more because of staging and protection. We give written quotes before any work starts.
Can you match my existing wall texture?
Yes — orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, hand-troweled and Level 5 smooth. For unusual or hand-applied finishes we prepare a sample panel and get your sign-off before touching the visible wall. Where a blend genuinely will not disappear, we will tell you that re-texturing the whole wall is the better answer rather than leaving you with a patch you can see.
Do you paint after the repair?
We finish, texture and prime every repair so it is ready for paint and the sheen matches. Final colour coats are usually best handled by your painter, who has your exact paint — but ask, because on small jobs we can often finish it out.
How long does a typical repair take?
Joint compound has to dry between coats, so most repairs are one long day or two shorter visits. Anyone promising a finished, textured, invisible repair in ninety minutes is skipping a coat.
My ceiling has a water stain. Can you just cover it?
Not responsibly. The source has to be stopped and the cavity dried first, otherwise you are paying to hide an active leak. Once it is dry we cut back the damaged board, rebuild, seal with a stain-blocking primer and re-texture so the ring does not bleed back through.
Do you charge for quotes?
No. Quotes are free and written. For straightforward repairs we can often give you a firm range from photos before anyone drives out.
Which areas do you cover?
The Diablo Valley core — Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga, Alamo, Danville, Clayton and Martinez — plus San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton and East County out to Antioch and Brentwood.
